Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. At the age of five years old her family moved to Oxfordshire and attended her first Dragon School. Emma made the decision to become an actor by the age of six. Through the years she was a student at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. In the school, she was taught singing dance, acting and singing. By the time she turned 10, Emma had taken part in a variety of Stagecoach Productions as well as school productions. Casting began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Agents for casting found Emma via her Oxford Theatre teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been cast in these roles. They cast her alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's debut on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. It set new records for the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs as well as being the most-grossing feature of 2001. The film was well-received by people who have read it, along with the performances of its three young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British newspaper, was awed by her for her impressive performance. Emma took home the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for a Feature Film. Emma was awarded five times for her work in the film.
